Outstanding music recordings of the three bodies of the Bavarian Radio Orchestra will be offered under a single brand of musical friends. The new label is called BR-KLASSIK. The first eight recordings, as well as a DVD, were published on September 18, 2009.
The publication packet for the start of the label contains three Super Audio CD recordings of the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. Chief conducter Mariss Jansons leads the orchestra in the 7th Symphony of Anton Bruckner, in a recording from November, 2007 at the Viennese Musikverein Hall. Also included is the 7th Symphony of Gustav Mahler, recorded in 2007 at the Munich Philharmonic in Gasteig. He also conducts a performance of Haydn's Harmony Mass and the Symphony No. 88, which took place in October 2008 in the basilica Waldsassen together with the Choir of the Bavarian Radio. This concert is also released on DVD.
The Bavarian Radio Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Chorus of the Bavarian Radio enjoy both in the region and internationally a reputation for exceptional quality, artistic creativity and the promotion of classical music. In the concert hall and on radio and television broadcasts, the three ensembles are heard regularly. Outstanding concerts, especially successful interpretations and works seldom heard will now be documented under the common brand BR-KLASSIK, their own label.
