The Vogl String Trio, which was founded in 2007 and has been able to give evidence of its expressiveness and authenticity at many international chamber music festivals, puts its ability in a nutshell to form an independent sound design with this recording of Max Reger's string trios. Reger, who was, of course, famous for his sense of humour, particularly towards himself and his works, in these Trios op. 77b and op. 141b bethinks himself of earlier compositions, borrows from Mozart and Beethoven and arranges these loans to include his own musical diction, often with a twinkle in his eye. The musicians Iva Nikolova, violin, Elissaveta Staneva-Vogl, viola, and Bernhard Vogl, cello, do full justice to this classicist approach and enthral the listener with their excellent and harmonious performance.
