Sonaten für Harfe und Cello

During his lifetime Bernhard Romberg (1767-1841) was considered by many to be the «Paganini of the cello». Alongside with having been a quartet and duo partner of Ludwig van Beethoven, he is known in music history for his cello school, which is still of importance today, and for the numerous works which he composed for his own instrument. The two Hungarian artists Zsuzsanna Aba-Nagy and Zsuzsa Szolnoki present a fascinating portrayal of the three sonatas for harp and violoncello op. 5 published in 1803, and thus continue their commitment to extraordinary and forgotten chamber music.

Born in Hungary, the harpist Zsuzsanna Aba-Nagy studied at the conservatory in Debrecen, and subsequently at the «Liszt Ferenc» Academy of Music in Budapest with Hedy Lubik. Based today in Vienna, she played for a long time in the Theaterorchester St. Pölten. She undertook further studies with Ursula Holliger and at Graz Music University with Arcola E. Clark. It is one of Zsuzsanna Aba-Nagy' prime interests to present and increase the popularity of her instrument, the harp, along with interesting, unusual, and possibly forgotten chamber music literature.

In 1986, Zsuzsa Szolnoki took her first cello lessons at Ferenc Erkel Music School Miskolc with Ilona Gyory Nagy. 1994 to 1999 she studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory Budapest, Hungary, graduating in 1999.
2000-2006 studies at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory Eisenstadt, Austria with Stephan Kropfitsch (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Jess Trio Vienna), Baroque music studies with Veronika Kröner, classical music studies with Werner Ehrenhofer and orchestra academy with the Vienna Philharmonic.
Szolnoki has performed with numerous international orchestras and as a soloist as well as a chamber musician. Residing in Copenhagen, she now teaches applying the Suzuki method
